Hotel recovery: 7 things we’re most looking forward to when lockdown’s over and we can get back to business
Nearly three-and-a-half long months into lockdown here in the UK, and we can’t help reminiscing on what we miss the most about the amazing hospitality industry, in our role as revenue management consultants.
Of course, we all know and understand the importance of staying home and staying safe, but that doesn’t mean we can’t dream about the day when we can all get back to business and get our wonderful hotels on the road to recovery.
Here’s what we are most looking forward to, when the time comes:
Seeing the hotel grounds
As the saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and there are many hotels across the world that really do pull out all of the stops for that striking and ever so important first impression. The upkeep of the hotel grounds and maintenance of the building can really give that WOW factor, and if the exterior is stylish and well maintained, that’s a good indication of what to expect on the inside.
Receiving a warm welcome
A friendly smile from the concierge, the smell of fresh flowers, lavish interiors, and the buzz of a hotel lobby is something quite special.
Meeting the team
We meet such great people in the hospitality industry in our roles as revenue management consultants. Different skill sets, cultures and backgrounds always makes hotel life much more interesting. We love meeting new people, learning about their challenges, aspirations and listening to their experiences.
The coffee
Of course, who doesn’t love a good coffee. And it always seems to taste better in the beautiful surrounds of an elegant hotel.
Learning new markets
Whether it be in the UK or further afield, we love to get our head around a new market and understand how we can help to develop a hotel’s revenue management strategy.
Measuring results
We take great pride in helping hotels develop and grow in their marketplace. Seeing this reflected in their results gives us a great sense of job satisfaction. And as the post-Covid hotel recovery begins, this will be all the more rewarding.
